This is a blog intended to bring our family and friends closer by giving them an opportunity to participate in a web discussion. I am new to blogging, so I don't know where this is going to take us, but hey, it's the 21st Century. Peace

Well, a couple of weeks ago we had a scare. Mary's white blood cell count was very low and no one knew why. Uncle Sam said it was just a fluke. I concurred. Dr. Robin gave her a shot of neupogen and let us go to Pennsylvania. Upon our return Mary had a bone marrow biopsy, a PET scan and another blood test. The weekend was tainted with thoughts of "what if?" in anticipation of the results of the tests.
Results? With a broad smile on his face, Dr. Robin said that everything looked very good. There was no indication of any lymphoma in the bone marrow and that the transplant was still successfully engrafting. "I won't need to see you for a couple of months." Wow! That was what we have been waiting for.
After the appointment I was scheduled to go to the mall for an underwear run with Nora if Mary's results were not completely positive. Thank God they were. Nora suggested we take a trip to Oakbrook (a very upscale outdoor mall north of where we live) and we all agreed. The surprise of the day was a dinner at the Reel Club, a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant which features seafood and gluten free dinner rolls. Mary thought she'd risk it and we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We had a great time as this was our first family outing in over six months.
This is a great relief for both Nora and myself, especially with Nora heading off to Europe in two weeks and with me starting school on Friday the 15th.
Now we just need to get Mary's guts to feel right and with an appointment with Dr. Kaiser on Friday I am confident we will get a handle on that.

Thanks for all of you prayers and support.
Keep in touch.
Peace to you and to those you love.
Rob, Mary and Nora

Always enjoy reading your blog and hearing of Mary's continued progress. Mary, you have been in my prayers and thoughts so I'm elated to hear of your progress. Best of luck to you Rob with the new school year and I know you'll be happy to have the theatre up and running. Nora and Blake's girlfriend, Kelsey O'Connell(she also attends Augustana), will have a great time in Europe this fall...perhaps they know each other? Stony Lake fishing is on...Love to you all, Cindy
