School's out for...
For me and Nora, school's out for summer. For Mary, school's out for ever. Yes, Mary is finally retired. She was able to attend a variety of retirement activities. She made a real impression at each one. At he Association Retirement Tea, she thanked everyone and then did an old Acceleration exercise to break the drone of Blah, Blah, Blah; a state change by playing some music and getting everyone to do a little clapping, hand shaking and thanking. The people who knew the trick, really appreciated that she is the only one who kept that technique alive and the ones who did not know what she was doing were entertained.
Today, we are doing the summer budget. We budget out our summer checks so that we can play and pay through to the start of school. Actually, I will resume my pay in the fall, but Mary will be receiving retirement money effective June 1st. It's a fun process and it really lets us know how much money we have to spend as we please.
Nora is getting her wisdom teeth removed on Monday. So it will be a little TLC for a few days this week. She starts teaching swimming soon and will be coaching badminton the following week. I think she is ready to get into a routine.
The trip to St. Louis was a lot of fun. Caroline Grace is a darling baby. She is very expressive and really locks onto people visually. The Baptism was very nice. I love the Little Flower church. It has wonderful stone and iron work. And, it's round.
Mary held up well, though she got pretty tired at times. Tim and I played golf. We got to spend some quality time with Carole and Daniel. Amber, Scott and Hawkins came up. Uncle Rob makes Hawkins cry and it was really new for us to see Amber as a mom. Charles drove with us. His company really made time fly. We were able to get to know Gina's parents a little better. I really like her dad. Her mom is a no nonsense kind of woman. I like her too. All in all it was a fun time and I am glad we went and were able to go.
So, our plans for the summer include a lot of golf and more fishing than last year. We are going to Florida to see Carole and Daniel. We will try to get to Pennsylvania to see Bette and we are hoping we can get to California to see Debbie and the boys.
For now, the first weekend of our summer, it's relax and enjoy. Monday is the first free Monday of the summer.
Keep in touch.
Peace to you and to those you love.
Rob
