The Blogging Habit
OK, it's been over a week so I have some issues to cover. Let's bullet...
- The Sectional Play contest was very stressful. We tried to be careful with the telephone unit. I had some kids remove it from the truck and put it on the sidewalk for safety prior to bringing it into the theater. As I was touching up another piece of scenery, a fellow play director from Thornton commented on how nice the phone looked when a gust of wind blew the whole unit over and destroyed the whole thing. The enclosure was OK, but the phone and the ringer and all of the parts just exploded. I said some bad words. Fixing the phone became the focus of my attention. I fixed it with lots of hot glue and we unloaded the set and then set it up and I guess all was well. The actor who played the Indian and who is supposed to get cut and bleed to death at the end of the play forgot to put his blood packet on. So, the two things that the play is all about: the phone and the blood were in a seriously challenged state. The acting was great, but one of the actors kicked the phone cord which prevented the phone from ringing. I kind of freaked, but I don't think the audience noticed. No phone. No blood. Oh, and the play went 1:50 overtime. Our ranks were all twos and threes. WE got dropped from a tie for third to fifth. We did not qualify for State. It's too bad, but it's a blessing that we all get to get back to our lives and we didn't have to spend the weekend in Springfield with my crew.
- The wine and cheese party was great. Laura did a wonderful job of cutting and labeling all of the cheese, spreads and meats. The guys were invited by GodPa to have cigars in the back yard after "dinner" and we invited Lyall to join us. I think he was moved in that his dad who died a couple of years ago probably never smoked a cigar with his son. Had a couple of long talks with Angela who is now a contributor to this blog. She and her husband Paul are a lot of fun to be around.
- I sold my golf clubs, driver and a putter on Ebay and those sales will pay for my new set. In case you are interested, I bought these copper PING 2 eye irons on Ebay two years ago. The first year I played with them, the shafts bent at the hossel so I had to send them back to the guy I bought them from and he re-shafted and re-gripped them. I played with them last year and now it's time for a change. I am going to fitted for a set of PING G5 irons 4 though Sand Wedge. I am going to buy a 16* and a 19* hybrid to replace my two and three irons. I also need a new driver, but I am going to wait on that. It could take me a month or more to decide on a new driver. And with a three bill minimum price tag, waiting until I find the right one will be prudent.
- Mary had a doctor appointment on Monday and things look good. She's scheduled for another PET scan in a month, but there doesn't seem to be any activity. She's working out regularly and eating well. Basically, she is doing very well. It is still a blessing that she is not in the classroom right now. The stress of the school environment is not conducive to healing.
- Negotiations are going slow and steady. We have a variety of activities planned for the next week or so. The gloves are coming off.
- We're going to to St Louis Memorial Day weekend for Caroline Grace's Baptism.
- And we are going to Louisville in July for Hawkins' Baptism.
- Nora is still pledging Delta Chi Theta. She got sick again and got medicine sooner this time. She's already feeling better.
Gotta go.
Peace to you and to those you love.
